Directions for use of stock software Best-TA
 
 1. Downloading and Installation:
   Please go to http://www.stock-anal.com/  to download Best-TA.
   Locate where you downloaded the setup file to your computer.
   Double-click on the setup program to start it.
   Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

 2. Run Best-TA:
   (1) Make sure you are connected to the Internet.
   (2) Right click on the Best-TA icon on your Desktop, select "Run as an administrator". Or double-click on the "Best-TA" icon  to launch this software.
   (3) Enter you First Name, Last Name and License Code in License Code dialog of Best-TA. The software displays 3 windows: Portfolio, Charts and Homepage.
   (4) Set Best-TA as trusted program in anti-virus software.

 3. Analyzing a Stock:
   (1) Double-click on a stock symbol, for example, GOOG in the Portfolio, the software downloads last price and historical prices data from Internet and displays charts of this stock. Or double-click on a stock symbol  in Portfolio Tree to displays charts of this stock. Displaying chart and indicators in a window.
   (2) Click on the TA1 tab to display charts of 16 popular indicators with buy / sell signals and back-testing results.
   (3) Zoom In and Zoom Out. Press the up arrow key to enlarge the charts and press the down arrow key to reduce the charts.
   (4) The vertical scrollbar allows you to scroll up and down to view more charts.
   (5) Place your cursor on the time axis of the chart. When the cursor changes to a double-headed arrow, press and hold the left mouse button and drag the cursor to the left or right for more charts.
   (6) Place your cursor on the line in the charts to view the data and date.
   (7) Choose menu item "Chart->View Hist. Prices" to display historical prices of the stock. Click on the Save button to save these data on your computer for MetaStock software.
   (8) Choose menu item "File->Save As Image" to save the charts as image.
   (9) Choose menu item "Chart->TA1->Back-Testing..." to test indicator performance and display the Back-Testing results. (Past performance is not indicative of futures results.)
   (10) Choose menu item "Chart->TA1->Parameter Optimization..." to seek optimal parameters of 16 popular indicators in TA1. The optimal parameters of 16 indicators are saved in the file ...\Best-TA\ta1d.txt for daily charts.
   (11) Choose menu item "Chart->TA1->Use Optimal Parameters" to use these optimal parameters to analyze this stock.
   (12) Choose menu item "Chart->TA1->View Optimal Parameters..." to display these optimal parameters.
   (13) Choose menu item "Chart->TA1->Delete Optimal Parameters..." to delete these parameters and then use the parameters in "Change Parameters of Indicators" dialog.
   (14) Choose menu item "Chart->Crosshairs" to display crosshairs and data on the charts.
   (15) Line Studies: Choose menu item "Chart->Line Studies" to display the Line Studies toolbar. Click on a button on the Line Studies toolbar and then  draw lines on the charts.
   (16) Choose menu item "Chart->Multiple Time Frames" to display the daily, weekly and monthly charts at the same time.
   (17) Chart Comparison of 2 Stocks: Choose menu item "Chart->Chart Comparison" to display 2 windows for comparison of 2 stocks. Type a stock symbol in text box on the toolbar and then press enter. The charts of this stock are displayed.
   (18) Stock Forecasting: Choose menu item "Chart->Top Indicators->Forecasting" to display the forecasting results on the charts for the next analysis. The forecasting results have the date 0000/00/01.
   (19) Choose menu item "Chart->Top Indicators->Heiken-Ashi" to display the charts of Heiken-Ashi.
   (20) Choose menu item "Chart->Top Indicators->Point and Figure" to display the charts of Point and Figure.
   (21) EquiVolume: Choose menu item "Chart->Top Indicators->EquiVolume" to display the charts of EquiVolume.
   (22) Choose menu item "Chart->Periodicity->weekly" to display the weekly charts.
   (23) Choose menu item "Chart->Periodicity->monthly" to display the monthly charts.
   (24) Click on the IG1, IG2... tab to see the indicators in IG1, IG2... Indicator Groups.
   (25) Click on the Co. News tab to display the webpage of this company.

 4. Displaying a Portfolio:
   (1) Choose menu item "List->Portfolio" to display a portfolio.
   (2) Choose menu item "Tools->Portfolio Tree" to display/hide the Portfolio Tree.
   (3) Double-click on a portfolio name in a GROUP in the Portfolio Tree to download last prices from Internet and display the last prices.
   (4) Choose menu item "View->Refresh" to refresh the last prices in the Portfolio.
   (5) Choose menu item "View->Auto Refresh" to automatically refresh the last prices every 30 seconds.
   (6) Choose menu item "List->Next" to display the next page of the portfolio, choose menu item "List->Previous" to display the previous page of the portfolio.
   (7) Click on a column header (e.g. Price), the stock symbols rank according to the values.

 5. Displaying Candle Charts of 9 Stocks in a Window:
   (1) Choose menu item "List->Multiple Stocks" to display charts of 9 stocks in a window.
   (2) Displaying Candle Charts of Other Stocks in a Window: Choose menu item "List->Next" to display charts of the next 9 stocks. Choose menu item "List->Previous" to display charts of the Previous 9 stocks.

 6. Viewing Gain:
   (1) Choose menu item "List->Edit Holding..." to edit the holding.
   (2) Choose menu item "List->View Gain" to download the last prices, calculate and display the gains.

 7. Downloading the Historical Prices of All Stocks Listed in a Portfolios:
   (1) Double-click on a portfolio name in a GROUP in the Portfolio Tree to download last prices from Internet and display the last prices. (All stock symbols in the portfolio must be used by Yahoo.)
   (2) Choose menu item "List->Download Hist. Prices" to download the historical prices  (End of Day) of all stocks listed in the portfolios. The historical prices are saved in the folder ...Best-TA\hisdata. Download the historical prices of the stocks in a portfolio only once a day.

 8. Back-Testing for All Stocks:
   (1) Double-click on a portfolio name in a GROUP in the Portfolio Tree.
   (2) Choose menu item "Chart->TA1->Back-Testing for All Stocks". This software will  download last prices of all stocks in the portfolio, read the historical prices of these stocks from the folder ...Best-TA\hisdata, test the indicator performance and display the Back-Testing results.

 9. Parameter Optimization for All Stocks:
   (1) Double-click on a portfolio name in a GROUP in the Portfolio Tree.
   (2) Choose menu item "Chart->TA1->Optimization for All Stocks". This software will  download last prices of all stocks in the portfolio, read the historical prices of these stocks from the folder ...Best-TA\hisdata, optimize the parameters of 16 popular indicators in TA1 and save the optimal parameters in the file ...\Best-TA\ta1d.txt.

 10. Saving the Historical Prices of All Stocks Listed in a Portfolio:
   (1) Double-click on a portfolio name in a GROUP in the portfolio Tree.
   (2) Choose menu item "List->Save Hist. Prices" to open the dialog "Save Historical Prices". Choose File Format, Header, Date Format, Date Order and File Extension and click on OK in the dialog. This software will  download last prices of all stocks in the portfolio, read the historical prices of these stocks from the folder ...Best-TA\hisdata and save the historical prices with last prices in the folder ...Best-TA\Local.

 11. Saving the Historical Prices for MetaStock:
   (1) Double-click on a portfolio name in a GROUP in the portfolio Tree.
   (2) Choose menu item "List->Save Hist. Prices". Select the File Format "Date,Open,High,Low,Close,Volume,o/i", the Header "<date>,<open>,<high>,<low>,<close>,<vol>,<o/i>", the Date Format "M/D/YYYY(6/18/2012)", the Date Order "Ascending Order", the File Extension "txt" and click on OK. This software will  download last prices of all stocks in the portfolio, read the historical prices of these stocks from the folder ...Best-TA\hisdata and save the historical prices with last prices in the folder ...Best-TA\Local. *The dates must be in ascending order (i.e., most recent date is listed on the last line).
   (3) Launch "The DownLoader": Choose Programs from the Start menu, choose the Equis International folder and choose The Downloader. The DownLoader is a program designed to help you manage your MetaStock data files.
   (4) Choose the "Tools->Convert..." menu item of The DownLoader. The Convert Securities dialog will appear.
   (5) Convert Securities dialog:
         File type (source). Choose ASCII Text from the drop-down list box.
         Folder and File name (source). Select the ...Best-TA\Local folder and the securities you want to convert by clicking on Browse.
         File type (destination). Choose MetaStock from the drop-down list box.
         Folder (destination). Select the folder you wish to convert into by clicking on Browse (destination).
         Click on Options to open The Conversion Options dialog.
         Choose Source from the Conversion Options dialog.
         Date Range. Type the First date and Last date for the range of data you want to convert.
         Message Limits. Type the number of Maximum errors and Maximum warnings you want to receive.
         Periodicity. Choose Daily. Click on Apply.
         Choose Destination from the Conversion Options dialog.
         If file exists. Choose "Append data to end of file" and the "Replace matching dates" box.
         Choose Include open and open interest. 
         Check Create new files.
         Click on Apply and OK. After a conversion is complete the Conversion Report appears. A green check mark next to the file means that data was successfully converted and stored.
   (6) Test: Choose the "Tools->Test..." menu to test the security files for true MetaStock compatibility and to see if there are any other obvious errors.
        
 12. Creating a New Portfolio:
   (1) Choose the menu "List -> Create Portfolio...", Create Portfolio dialog appears.
   (2) Click on a Group name.
   (3) Click on the Add Pf button, a dialog will appear.
   (4) Type a portfolio name.
   (5) Click on Save.

 13. Adding Stock Symbols into a Portfolio:
   (1) Click on a portfolio name in Create Portfolio dialog.
   (2) Type a stock symbol in Symbol text box.
   (3) Type an exchange code in Exchange text box for downloading the data from Google.
   (4) Click on Add, the symbol is added into the portfolio.
   (5) Stock Symbols Used by Yahoo:
   View a list that presents all covered exchanges on the Yahoo! Finance U.S. site.
   Search for tickers across all of the available Yahoo! Finance markets.
   Yahoo uses Suffix rather than exchange code to express the Exchange.

   (6) Stock Symbols Used by Google:
   Find stock symbol and Exchange Code at Google to download the data from Google.
   See symbol examples in Gsymbol portfolio in the Best-TA software.

 14. Paste several stock symbols in a portfolio:
   (1) Creating a New Portfolio .
   (2) Adding a stock symbols into the portfolio.
   (3) Click OK button in Create Portfolio dialog and close Best-TA software.
   (4) Double-click on the portfolio name with txt suffix in ...Best-TA\Block folder to open it.
   (5) You may paste several stock symbols in the txt file. Open Ysymbol.txt and Gsymbol.txt to see the file format.
   (6) You may also edit the file.
   (7) Save the file.
   (8) Relaunch Best-TA software.

 15. Delete a Stock Symbols in a Portfolio:
   (1) Click on a portfolio name in Create Portfolio dialog.
   (2) Choose a stock symbol in Symbol text box.
   (3) Click on the Del button to delete the symbol from the portfolio.

 16. Use Best-TA for Indian Stock Markets *
   (1) Choose the menu "List -> Create Portfolio...", Create Portfolio dialog appears.
   (2) Click on Ysymbol.  
   (3) Delete the symbols from the portfolio.
   (4) Add Indian stock symbols into the portfolio.
   (5) Click on OK.
   (6) Double-click on Ysymbol in GROUP1 in the Portfolio Tree to see the last prices.

 17. Parameter Optimization of Indicators in IG1,...IG10 .
   (1) Choose the menu "Chart -> Technical Analysis(TA)" or click on TA button to display charts.
   (2) Right-click on the chart with buy sell arrows, choose Parameter Optimization and then click Start. Optimal parameters of the indicator are shown in Parameter Optimization dialog.

 18. Select a Data Source.
   (1) Choose the menu "Tools -> Options...", the OPTIONS dialog appears.
   (2) Select Data Source in the left box.
   (3) Click on Yahoo1, Yahoo2 or Google to select a Data Source.
   (4) Click on APPLY button.
   (5) Click on OK.

 19. Download Last Prices from Google:
   (1) Select Google as data source in OPTIONS dialog.
   (2) Create a portfolio, for example Gsymbol, in Create Portfolio dialog. All stock symbols in the portfolio are used by Google.
   (3) Double-click on Gsymbol in GROUP1 in the Portfolio Tree to see the last prices.

 20. Displaying 1min, 5min, 10min, 15min and 30min Intraday Charts.
   (1) Choose the menu "Chart -> Periodicity -> 1min, 5min, 10min, 15min or 30min".
   (2) Double-click on a symbol in Gsymbol portfolio, the software downloads intraday historical prices from Google and shows intraday charts.
